# 1 in the Nation
For the third consecutive year, Penn Nursing’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is the number one undergraduate nursing program in the nation according to the 2024 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings.
“Penn Nursing-educated nurse leaders are known as fearless innovators and dedicated care providers right here in Philadelphia and throughout the world,” said Penn Nursing Dean Antonia Villarruel. “We are honored that our School is recognized yet again for our stellar undergraduate program – it’s a reflection of the outstanding learning environment at Penn – in partnership with our practice partners, our extraordinary students and alumni and their impact wherever they practice.”
The BSN rankings are determined by the average of scores received from surveys of top academics and officials at nursing schools or departments. These officials rated the overall quality of undergraduate BSN programs they were familiar with on a 1-5 scale. Schools are included and ranked in this standalone peer assessment survey if they have bachelor’s-level accreditation by either the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education or the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing. In addition, these regionally accredited institutions must have recently awarded at least 40 BSN degrees.
