We’ve gathered some additional information on common financial aid topics.
Work Study
Work study programs are a great way to help finance your education and are often part of financial aid packages. Open work study positions are listed through the Penn Student Employment Office.
Undergraduate students in our program do need to demonstrate financial need to be eligible for work study. If you know that you need work study, but will be unable to work it, you can have your work study funds converted into a loan. Student Financial Services can give you more information on this.
Student Budget Increases
You may request a student budget increase to cover health insurance or a computer purchase. For health insurance, your budget will change only after the health insurance purchase hits your student billing account. For the computer, just bring your receipt to Student Financial Services. To make things easier, if your computer is purchased at the on-campus Computer Connection, the charge will automatically appear on your student billing account.
To apply for any other kind of budget increase, or to check on the status of a submitted request, contact Student Financial Services. Be ready to submit any available supporting documentation, as it helps expedite the process. The Refund Process
If you receive financial aid or loans (or a combination of the two) into your student billing account, and the amount is in excess of your tuition, you will get the overage as a refund in early September. We no longer issue paper checks, so you’ll receive your refund electronically. Please set up direct deposit through Penn In Touch to ensure you receive your refund.
Direct Loans
You can check the status of your direct loans by logging into the Penn Loan System.
Come See Us!
We will be holding a brown bag session for all of our new Class of 2017 undergrad nursing students in early September. We also offer walk-in hours on Wednesdays from 11am to 1pm, but please feel free to drop in at any time during the first two weeks of classes while you get used to your schedule. And, just a tip, it’s good to be on the lookout for helpful emails from Nursing Financial Aid staff, Antoinette and John.
