“Building Community Connections” Speaker Series

The Leonard A. Lauder Community Care Nurse Practitioner Program at Penn Nursing is dedicated to the education and profession of nurse practitioners as a leading force in the advancement of health and health equity. While enhanced clinical training in underserved communities is a foundational element of this program, we have also developed supplemental learning resources to better support our Fellows, faculty, staff, preceptors, and community practice partners. The aims of these enhanced learning opportunities are to better prepare Fellows to understand, identify, and address social determinants of health at the point of care and to develop intersectoral leadership skills aimed at delivering social and policy interventions for vulnerable or underserved populations. Seminars will highlight best practices around these topics so that upon graduation, Fellows can further support and lead efforts to advance health equity by addressing disparities associated with social determinants of health in underserved communities and to build community connections through intersectoral leadership activities.
